Vedanta Laptop Program for Grades 2 - 12

We believe that students plugged into technology should have opportunities to use it in their studies,so bring your laptop. iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to school and use it on our WiFi system. You can use you pocket devices for many classroom applications and assignments. Your device just has to be WiFi (wireless) capable.

For full laptop work such as word processing, presentations, spreadsheets and graphic design, audio and video there are severaloptions as listed below.

Option # 1 - Supplying your own laptop

While we are mostly an Apple computer School we are allowing students to bring their own laptop equipment to school, Apple or PC, as long as it is wireless capable and contains "Licensed" up to date software, virus protection and operating system. Maintenance of hardware, software, operating system and virus protection or any other issue with the computer is a parental responsibility and no school technician time will be allocated. Vedanta Academy will not be responsible for loss or damage to personal equipment.
Students will be given access to pick up and drop box folders as well as guarded Internet access with blocks on peer to peer, social network and other sites as well as restrictions on downloading files.

Option #2 - Purchase a MacBook

This option allows parents to purchase either a 13 inch white MacBook 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB 160GB/SD or a 13 inch MacBook Pro at current educational prices as well as AppleCare 3 year manufacturer warranty) and a $250.00 software and operating system maintenance package that covers all upgrades of either iWorks or iLife as well as the operating system every time Apple puts out new versions for a 3 year period. The cost depends on the current Apple Education Price Lists and the number of students ordering at a given time. There is better value at 5 or more students ordering.

Option #3 - Leasing Program

Mac Laptop Now owning a laptop is easier and more affordable than ever! Take advantage of Vedanta’s Educational Pricing for components and software, not available to the average consumer. Lease through us at a cost of $80.00 per month with a $100.00 buyout at the end of the contract and YOU keep the computer! With lease and loss/damage insurance included, your Mac is still $200.00 below accumulated retail for hardware, warranty, operating system and software upgrades.

Why the Macbook?

Unlike the laptop programs offered through the Public schools, students can use their Macs for normal, at home use and safely return to our monitored Vedanta network. With server and wireless upgrades this summer the MacBooks will be on high speed wireless connection in ALL areas of the school; giving students access to the school network, printers and presentation equipment.

A white MacBook laptop, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB 160GB/SD.
The latest Apple software including:: iPhoto, Garage Band (99 channel recording software with sync) iLife, iWorks, iMovie (video editing), iDVD, Pages (word processing), Numbers (spreadsheets), Keynote (presentations) and Office 2004 for Mac. Additional programs will be installed as needed for classes such as Media Studies.
3 year AppleCare equipment warranty. 3 years Software & Operating System upgrades (as they come out).
Access to the Mac Learning Lab where students learn how to operate the software and apply it to class work.
