Application for Admission to the Vedanta Academy

You may attend one of our monthly evening orientation meetings prior to sending in registration. The schedule is available by calling 868-8816. Usually the last Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Academy.

1. Complete the application package from the download area at the bottom of the page and return it to the Academy office via fax at 250-868-8836, E-mail to office@vedantaacademy.com or regular mail to 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC, V1X-2C9. Include a cheque for $275.00 including a non refundable $75.00 processing and assessment fee and a one time registration fee of $200.00 The registration fee portion is refundable if a child is not accepted to the Academy

2. Following receipt of all application materials, the application will be reviewed and you will be notified within two weeks to come in for a parent/guardian interview. This takes about an hour. Bring as much information about your child/children as you can.

3. Following the parent interview a student(s) interview and assessment will be scheduled. This two takes about an hour to seventy-five minutes.

4. You will be contacted shortly afterward to discuss whether or not Vedanta Academy would be a good fit for your child.

5. Upon acceptance you will be contacted by the Administrative Clerk for an appointment to complete a tuition agreement, sign appropriate forms for the student file and administration and to gather needed information for enrolment such as Care Card, immunization, Birth Certificate etc. information. Uniform supply information will also be given out.

Tuition fees effective September 2008 are:

Grade Level Fees

Grades 2-9 $3000.00 year ($300 per month)

Grades 10-12 $4000.00 year ($400 per month)

There is a non refundable one time Registration Fee of $200.00 per child, to be paid at the time applications are submitted as well as a non refundable $75.00 Administration Fee.

Classroom Fee

All students will be required to pay a classroom supply fee of $35 per month or $350 yr. This equips your child with the general supplies they will need for the year including text books, paper, pens and arts & crafts. You will not need to purchase any general school items such as pencils, pens, books, etc.

Additional Fees ( due in September)

•  Year book fee (1 per family) $45.00

•  Performance fee (per child) $50.00

Discounts and Payment Plans

Family Discount - On Tuition Portion Only

Children must be in Grade School Program for Family Discounts
Families with two children 10% discount off of total tuition fees for both children
Families with three of more children 15% discount off of total tuition fees for all children

Prepayment Discount - On Tuition Portion Only

A 5% discount will be given to those who elect to pay the full year's tuition fees on or before September 15,2007. This discount is in addition to family discounts, if applicable.

Payment by Installments

For those who wish to pay by installments, the fees may be divided into installments due and payable without interest as follows:

•  Monthly for one tenth of the tuition, by delivering to the school 10 postdated cheques for the first of each month beginning Sept 1 up to and including June 1.

Tuition Assistance Programs

Vedanta Academy offers tuition assistance to those students and families who are a good fit for the school but who's financial circumstances require help with tuition costs. Please ask about the application process for levels of assistance when applying.

Dress Code:

Vedanta Academy believes that part of personal growth and self esteem includes appearance and has a dress code for students that allows diversity and style while keeping a level of general acceptance and quality. CLICK HERE for the link to Dress Code

International Students

Vedanta Academy accepts a limited number of International Students as long as they are reasonably fluent in English. It is important to limit International Students so that exposure to English is maximized. International students pay higher fees because there is no partial ministry funding. International student fees at Vedanta are $12,000.00 per year which includes tuition, classroom fees and most education/field trip expenses.

To apply for a placement, a processing fee of $75.00 along with the one time $200.00 registration fee and an completed application form must be submitted to the Academy. After the package is received a parent interview will be scheduled followed by a student interview and assessment. The object is to first insure a good fit. The $200.00 enrolment fee will be refunded if the student is not accepted.
