Teaching at our school is harder than it seems because it means everything not being about the teacher, but rather about the students. It means understanding that learning is not taking place without a student-teacher connection on some level and the student feeling safe from ridicule (punishment) as well as feeling safe to try and fail if need be.....but, still safe and valued. We use natural and logical consequences, not punitive responses to issues and as a teacher you have to be not only okay with that, but understand and embrace it. If we were asking this of teachers in any other system, it might be impossible, but within a small class, management supported and teamwork environment, it is not only possible, but it happens daily with most of us.

Vedanta Academy welcomes applications for Secondary School Teachers with specialties in Math and Sciences for a one year maternity leave. This position has the potential to become full time in a varied schedule based on enrolment and needs in the Secondary area of the Academy. It is important to be able and willing to provide varied instruction and presentation for the student learning styles and to bring the curriculum alive for students at this level looking to make post secondary choices in various fields.
